Nazim Sadykhov submits Terrance McKinney, improves win streak to nine-straight at UFC Vegas 77

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to us tonight, July 15, 2023, for UFC Vegas 77, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Opening up the main card tonight was a lightweight bout showcasing a pair of flashy finishers in Terrance McKinney (13-6) and Nazim Sadykhov (9-1).

McKinney had finished all 13 of his professional wins to date, 12 of which came in the opening round with the other coming in round three. In contrast, Sadykhov had finished seven of his eight wins as well, three coming in round one and four of his last five coming in round three.

Official Result: Nazim Sadykhov def. Terrance McKinney via submission (rear naked choke) at 1:07 of round two

McKinney lands a nice left hand early on in the bout before initiating a clinch, eventually securing a body lock trip takedown. He soon after takes Sadykhov’s back, sinking in the body triangle and searching for the rear naked choke. McKinney holds this position for over three minutes before Sadykhov reverses him and gets on top.

McKinney is back to his feet quickly however, though Sadykhov lands two hard left hands in the final minute of the opening round. This gets McKinney to search for another tie up, where he ends the round pressing Sadykhov into the fence.

Sadykhov pressures McKinney in the second, so much in fact it forces panic shots out of him. He is unable to secure the takedown however, with Sadykhov taking his back and sinking in the rear naked choke immediately after stuffing it.

Nazim Sadykhov becomes the second man in a row to stop Terrance McKinney in round two, improving his win streak to nine-straight tonight at UFC 77.

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
