Nick Diaz “training hard” for UFC comeback, says Tyson Fury

Longtime fan-favorite Nick Diaz is “training hard” for his comeback to the UFC, says boxer Tyson Fury, who has spent time training with him.

Diaz announced in April that he is making a comeback to the UFC after having not fought in the past six years. Ahead of his return to the Octagon, Diaz has been spending time doing some training with Fury, one of the greatest boxers in the world today. TMZ Sports was recently able to catch up with “The Gypsy King” and he had nothing but good things to say about his training session with “The Stockton Bad Boy.”

“It was good,” Fury said of training with Diaz. “Nick looks good. Nick’s training hard and (he’s making his comeback).”

We haven’t heard of any potential opponent for Diaz in his return yet, but UFC president Dana White recently admitted that things were looking positive in regards to him fighting again. The last time we saw Diaz fight was in January 2015, when he fought to a No Contest with Anderson. The last official win for Diaz inside the cage came all the way back in October 2011 when he beat BJ Penn at UFC 137.

As for Fury, he is primarily a boxer and he is busy with Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua in that sport. But he has expressed interest in making the move to mixed martial arts and to the UFC at some point. According to the Brit, Diaz told him that UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou can’t wrestle, which is just what Fury wants as he said that he’s looking for a standup war instead.

“Yeah, but he did tell me that Ngannou can’t do wrestling, anyways. We are looking for a standup banger. Me and Ngannou in the small gloves — make it happen,” Fury said.

How excited are you to see Nick Diaz fight in the UFC again?
