Not down with YouTube boxing? Here’s some good boxing matches on tonight instead…
We get it, Jake Paul is not everyone’s cup of tea. He and Anderson Silva are garnering most of the attention tonight but there is actually high-level boxing on today that may be more up the purists’ alley. Here are a couple matches to watch tonight if you’re trying to boycott the YouTube boxing phenomenon.
YouTube Boxing Alternatives: JoJo Diaz and William Zepeda
One of the best fights of the night in any sport is JoJo Diaz returning to face William Zepeda. The two are fighting on DAZN and promise a banger of a fight that is must-see boxing. William Zepeda is undefeated at 26-0 with 23 knockouts. His last win was his best as he bested former boxing World Champion Rene Alvarado via unanimous decision. He’s won some Continental titles but is looking for an opportunity to step into the upper echelon of the lightweight division.
JoJo Diaz is your favorite fighter’s favorite fighter. His record is not perfect, but he always comes and brings the fight. At 32-2-1 (15 KOs), Diaz has been in the ring with some of the best. His only two losses come to high level opponents in Devin Haney, who just defeated George Kambosos Jr. in a rematch for the undisputed lightweight title, and Gary Allen Russell Jr. Diaz has also notched a couple quality wins over Tevin Farmer and Javier Fortuna.
If you’re staying away from YouTube boxing and want something a little more high-level, this fight may be for you. But that’s not all…
Top Rank Bringing Some Showcase Fights
In addition to the DAZN card, Top Rank Boxing is going head to head with YouTube boxing and featuring one of the most fun fighters in Vasyl Lomachenko. Coming off of his win over Richard Commey at the end of last year, Loma is finally returns to action after fighting the war in Ukraine against the Russian invasion.
With the hopes of a title fight against the aforementioned Devin Haney, Lomachenko hopes to make a statement against Jamaine Ortiz, who is undefeated at 16-0. If a big win is in the cards for Lomachenko, it could set up a return to the title picture for the Ukrainian fighter.
But Top Rank has this card loaded. In addition to Lomachenko, Bob Arum and company are loading the card with talent like Nico Ali Walsh, grandson of the late, great Muhammad Ali. In addition to Ali Walsh, there are Olympic medalists and big prospects that are the future of boxing on the card. Olympians include featherweight silver medalist Duke Ragan, Troy Isley who won bronze at the 2017 World Championships, Haven Brady Jr. and Robeisy Ramirez.
So, if you’re a boxing fanatic but not down with the YouTube boxing, there are still fun things to watch tonight, and we got you covered with the good stuff!
