Ode Osbourne discusses his UFC Vegas 70 win
Ode Osbourne has had a number of opponent changes throughout his UFC career so far, so when he found out he was going to have a new opponent at UFC Vegas 70, he had no doubt in his mind that he was going to stay on the card.
Charles Johnson would step up and fight Osbourne on short notice in a catchweight fight at 130 pounds and both men came to fight.
The two went back-and-forth and often throughout their 15 minute contest, the UFC commentary team would often say that they didn’t know who was winning rounds.
At the end of the fight it was Osbourne who would end up edging Johnson on scorecards to earn a split decision win.
In the second round of the fight, Osbourne was hit with an accidental low blow and Osbourne needed almost the full five minutes to recover from it. While many would think that could off had a negative effect on his performance, Osbourne didn’t use it as an excuse.
In fact, Osbourne was surprised that the fight was viewed as close as it was as he felt he controlled the fight and landed a few takedowns to swing the rounds in his favor.
Besides the point, Osbourne is happy he got the win and he is glowing with excitement for the future.
Prior to UFC Vegas 70, Osbourne just started working with coach Dewy Cooper. He only spent three months with Cooper, Osbourne felt it was the best camp of his life and he feels that he is only going to get better under Cooper.
Following his win at UFC Vegas 70, Osbourne spoke with MyMMANews to break down his win over Johnson and training under Cooper.
