Oluwale Bamgbose out of retirement, will compete for Maverick MMA on November 20

Former UFC fighter and Ring of Combat middleweight champion, Oluwale Bamgbose (6-4) is coming out of retirement after almost four years away from the cage.

Bamgbose, 34, retired from professional mixed martial arts competition after his release from the UFC at the end of 2017. The Nigerian born fighter turned New York will make his return for Maverick MMA 18 at Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania on November 20, promoter Willy Sisca tells MyMMANews.com.

“Wale was one of my favorite fighters when he was coming up through the local circuit and when he made some waves in the UFC,” Sisca said. “I love his passion for the sport and his fight style is always fan friendly. He’s more than a fighter; he’s an ambassador to the sport and an exciting treat for Maverick fans to be able to watch him compete locally in November and into next year.”

As of a press time an opponent for Bamgbose has not been identified and the fight card is currently being put together but the fight will be for the Maverick MMA 185-pound championship.  The promotion will hold Maverick 17 next month at the same location where “Holy War Angel” Bamgbose will make his return.

“I’m a man of my word and I stated I will be back, better than ever and I meant it,” Bamgbose tells MyMMANews. “Can’t wait to create some mixed martial trends by displaying my unique techniques at Maverick MMA. OSS!”

Bamgbose was undefeated (5-0) in Ring of Combat prior to signing with the UFC where he went 1-4. His most recent win came at UFC Fight Night 83: Cerrone vs. Oliveira in February 2016, when he defeated Daniel Sarafian by way of first-round head kick knockout. He made his professional debut in June 2013.
