ONE Championship Fighters of the Year for 2021 (MMA and Super Series)

ONE Championship Fighters of the Year have been determined for 2021.

Male and female combatants were selected by the organization in both mixed martial arts as well as for the Super Series competitors in kickboxing and Muay Thai.

ONE Championship Fighters of the Year

ONE lightweight world champion Ok Rae Yoon is the male fighter of the year and one that makes a great deal of sense.

It becomes an even more remarkable feat considering he wasn’t even on the ONE Championship roster prior to this year. Yoon debuted in April and went on to beat three very well-regarded individuals during his 2021 championship campaign.

He defeated former ONE featherweight champion Marat Gafurov in his debut. Ok Rae Yoon then bested former UFC/ Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and then-reigning ONE lightweight world champion Christian Lee whereby Yoon became the new ONE titleholder.

Stamp Fairtex is ONE Championship’s female fighter of the year for 2021. The Atomweight Grand Prix champion certainly had a killer calendar year.

Stamp actually started out her year by tasting defeat against Alyona Rassohyna which was her first-ever loss in MMA competition. The two-sport ONE world champion (Kickboxing and Muay Thai) rebounded from that February setback. She avenged herself against Rassohyna in September during the Atomweight GP quarterfinals as Stamp won via split decision.

Stamp bested Julie Mezabarba via UD and Ritu Phogat by submission in the subsequent rounds of the Grand Prix. She garnered the tournament title, a shot at Angela Lee’s belt in 2022, and secured a title in a third combat discipline within ONE.

ONE Super Series award winners in 2021

On the Super Series end of things, Superbon cemented himself as the top dog. Despite only fighting a single time in the year, Superbon emphatically embedded himself into the scene with the magnitude of the victory he got.

Superbon finished a man widely regarded as kickboxing’s GOAT Giorgio Petrosyan. A victory that could be the most stunning highlight of 2021 following their clash at ONE: First Strike.

Last but not least, Janet Todd was given the distinction of being the top woman in the Super Series ranks for 2021

Todd entered the year as the ONE Atomweight Kickboxing champ. But showed her full Super Series skillset by picking up a pair of thorough Muay Thai wins. Victories that came over Alma Juniku as well as Anne Line Hogstad in March and April, respectively.

What are your feelings on the ONE Championship Fighters of the Year for 2021?
