ONE Championship Tops WWE, NASCAR, and NBA in Organic Facebook Views
ONE Championship is growing. In an infographic posted by Chatri Sityodtong, the CEO of ONE Championship, the combat sports promotion ended 2021 with the most organic views of any sports organization in the world in views on Facebook. The promotion closed out 2021 with 8.84 billion organic views on the year beating out NBA, WWE, NASCAR and the UFC.
ONE Championship had a fantastic 2021. The promotion put on 25 events total with only one canceled by the ever-looming pandemic that is COVID-19. Sityodtong and company managed to get the best fighters in the world and keep them in promotion. Where RIZIN failed with Kyoji Horiguchi needing to fight with Bellator, ONE Championship managed to keep their biggest stars under their umbrella.
With the help of several key viral moments, ONE Championship reaped the benefits of their massive organic reach. Two key moments, among many others, were when Adriano Moraes knocked out former UFC champion, Demetrious Johnson, which was a huge shock to the world. Later in the year, Superbon knocked out perennial pound for pound number one kickboxer Marat Grigorian.
ONE Championship hitting the ground running
With their successful 2021, ONE Championship is not resting on their laurels. Now, they’re starting 2022 off with a bang. The Heavy Hitters card features a couple of title fights. In the main event, Jingnan Xiong defends her belt against Japan’s Ayaka Miura. The co-main was the big boys as heavyweight champion, Roman Kryklya looked to defend his heavyweight kickboxing title against Murat Aygun before COVID-19 protocols removed the fight from the card.
In it’s place, Saempetch Fairtex and Tawanchai are fighting in a fantastic 145 Muay Thai bout and James Nakashima and Saygid Izagakhmaev are fighting as well. Be sure to tune into this card on Friday to catch all the great upcoming fights.
