Here’s how the fight played out round by round:

ROUND 1:

Your referee in charge Marc Goddard. Both men starting of patient, as predicted Preux opening up with kicks. Preux is mixing up his kicks very well, teeps to the body are working really well. A very slow round with both fighters making reads and a lot of feints. The bell sounds for the end of the round followed up with a echo of boos.

MyMMANews.com scores it: 10-9 to Ovince Saint Preux

ROUND 2:

Second round, Preux continues with his kick heavy gameplan. Shogun looking to return with kicks of his own. Not a lot to report on this round, both men trading kicks. Nothing significant lads for either fighter, a very slow round. Shogun had a better round and I would say edged it slightly.

MyMMANews.com scores it: 10-9 to Mauricio Rua, 19-19

ROUND 3:

Third and final round. Preux is starting to open up now a little, and now Shogun has a cut now above his eyebrow. Preux has had Shogun on his heels this round and making the former champion circle around the octagon. Final minute of the fight. The fight comes to a end, not a very entertaining fight, but the boos are unnecessary for what Shogun has done for this sport.

MyMMANews.com scores it: 10-9 to Ovince Saint Preux, 29-28

Official Result: Ovince Saint Preux (@003_OSP) (29-28, 30-27) def Mauricio Rua (29-28) by split decision.
