Paddy McCorry vs Jordan O’Neill Set for Cage Warriors Belfast

A middleweight fight between Irish fighters Paddy McCorry (2-0) and Jordan O’Neill (0-0) is set for Cage Warriors 138, which takes place on Saturday 25th June in Belfast’s SSE Arena. Multiple sources with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the news to MyMMANews.com.

The matchup marks the first domestic clash added to the Belfast card – Cage Warriors’ first Irish event since their visit to Cork’s Neptune Stadium in 2019.

West Belfast fighter Paddy McCorry trains out of Fight Academy Ireland, alongside Cage Warriors interim featherweight champion Paul Hughes and recently vacated lightweight champion Joe McColgan. The 24-year-old made his pro debut in 2021, notching back-to-back finishes under the Cage Conflict banner, capturing and defending the promotion’s middleweight title in the process.

Kombat Jiu Jitsu’s Jordan O’Neill is no stranger to gold himself. After losing his first three fights, the Dungiven, Derry native proceeded to carve out one of the more successful amateur runs in Irish MMA. “Jumbo” captured four belts across three different weight classes during his amateur tenure. The Cage Legacy/Clan Wars/Chaos FC/Cage Conflict amateur champion’s record resets to 0-0 as he transitions to making his pro debut.

An intriguing wrinkle to this matchup is McCorry’s opportunity to avenge the loss of his teammate, while equally O’Neill can score consecutive victories over Fight Academy Ireland opponents with a win. “Jumbo” defeated FAI’s Troy Gibson in his amateur swansong just 10 days ago to secure the Cage Legacy amateur light heavyweight title.

Cage Warriors 138 will take place on Saturday 25th June. The event will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass, and fans can purchase tickets for the show here.
