Paddy Pimblett to make UFC debut opposing Luigi Vendramini at UFC FN 193

We have another Cage Warriors champion added to our deep UFC roster, as well as former FCC lightweight champion Paddy Pimblett, who’s had a great deal of hype for some time now.

Mason Jones is the most recent, before Pimblett, to join the UFC’s roster out of Cage Warriors. He was the champ-champ there, and he’s done well in the UFC thus far, despite not picking up a victory in his first two outings.

Now, we get to see this English assassin make his promotional debut opposing Luigi Vendramini at UFC Fight Night 193, September 4, 2021.

This is incredibly exciting, seemingly everyone’s been awaiting this for the last couple or so years.

Pimblett’s just about as crafty as they come on the mat, he’s a truly wicked grappler, while Vendramini’s a talented striker. The Englishman has good striking, but it still does need some fine tuning.

However, where he isn’t Israel Adesanya or Stephen Thompson on the feet, he makes up for with his opportunistic fighting style. He’ll jump on submissions and finish them, and if he doesn’t, he’ll chamber one submission to the next and get the tap from something else.

Pimblett is also great at pressing the action with his striking, forcing his opponents into a grappling exchange as he backs them up.

It’s quite rare we see someone with that type of ability.

Pimblett comes into this bout with a record of 16-3, and he’s already beaten a couple notable names, such as Julian Erosa for instance, who’s doing well in the UFC right now himself, going 2-1 thus far into his return.

Not to mention, his only defeats come to Cameron Else in just his fifth fight, Nad Narimani, both of which are in the UFC right now, and Soren Bak, a 15-1 Bellator talent that has all the potential in the world.

There was a near-two year stretch there where Pimblett didn’t compete at all, accumulating five straight cancelled bouts from September of 2018 to March of 2020. However, he went 1-0 last year on March 20, and he’s gone 1-0 thus far this year, also having fought on March 20.

There’s just one question going into this fight, will the debut jitters be a factor?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
