Patrick Brady ready for next level….PFL heavyweight tournament

Video interview with Patrick Brady above

The Patrick “the Brick” Brady journey into the PFL Heavyweight Tournament began in 2018 where he would lose a back-and-forth battle in his amateur debut at Art of War Cage Fighting 8.  Brady has not lost since, winning four as an amateur and now stands at 5-0 as a professional.  I have been cageside on commentary for eight of his fights and have seen the heavy-handed boxer turn into a well-rounded mixed martial artist.  But make no mistake about it…the Brick’s bread and butter are those hands.

Brotherhood

Patrick Brady spends most of his time at his home gym of Martinez BJJ, where there is a load of talent, but also maintains a close relationship with many of the regions’ top fighters. UFC stand-out Andre Petroski is like a brother to Pat and is in Atlanta all week with him and will be in Brady’s corner Friday night.  John Mercurio, who has been Pat’s sparring partner and life friend will also be on the trip and keeping him prepared and providing emotional support.

Who’s next?

Brady’s next challenge will come this Friday night June 16th in Atlanta, GA . His opponent is Jordan Heiderman who is also undefeated at (6-0).  Heiderman has some length on Brady, but Pat has dealt with being the shorter fighter in all of his fights and it hasn’t been a problem so far.  This will be the biggest fight of their career for both men as they try to advance in the tournament and claim the top prize  of 1 million dollars.

The Brick talks..

“This kid’s tough.  He’s got some submissions.  His first fight was a three round war and he showed a lot of grit and heart in that one.  I know I’m gonna get hit. There’s gonna be blood.  There typically is in my fights.  I’m excited to show off on the national stage. I’m no longer a regional fighter.  We made it to the big show.  I’m just super grateful for where I am.”

From the lowest level, to the highest, he only cares about the two warriors who do battle once the cage doors close. Everything else is secondary.
