PFL 5 Atlantic City Results

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) 2019 moves forward with their second event in Atlantic City, New Jersey’s Ocean Resort. Tonight’s PFL 5 event features men’s lightweights and featherweights looking to earn more points to move closer to the million-dollar prize for the end of the year. 2018 Featherweight champion Lance Palmer, looks to repeat last years success but he will have to get through Luis Larentino first. Natan Schulte will be in the same boat when he faces, Jesse Ronson.

If PFL 4 showed fight fans anything it’s that PFL 5 could likely bring more finishes since ending a fight early is a surefire way to rack up points. Follow along here as we update the results for PFL 5.

The first finish of the night was by Islam Mamedov who scored a TKO in round one over Bao Yincang when he got him in a crucifix position and pounded away on Yincang to get the victory.

In the first round of Andre Harrison and Movlid Khaibulaev’s match, Khaibulaev nearly got another flying knee finish but Harrison survived the round to fight on. Both men were looking to earn points but the fight would go the distance resulting in a majority draw.

In a three-round fight that seemed like a judo demo, Natan Schulte threw Jesse Ronson around enough to pick up a unanimous decision.

When the action switched to the ESPN 2 portion of the card, Alex Gilpin would get the first finish on the broadcast portion when he got a first-round guillotine choke over Freddy Assuncao.

Lance Palmer was playing with fire on the ground in his fight against Luis Larentino who showed a dangerous submission game off his back. However, Palmer’s wrestling would help him come out on top of the scrambles keeping top position. By the final round, Palmer wore down Larentino enough to pass his guard and take the mount where he pounded out a finish.

The final bout of the evening had a busy Chris Wade trade blows with Akhmed Aliev. Wade displayed a new set of kicks in his arsenal that would make him the busier fighter and earning the decision when the fight was done.

Tonight’s event finalized the featherweight and lightweight playoffs for October in Las Vegas and you can view the 2019 season standings on the official PFL website.
