The second half of the Professional Fighters League 2021 Regular Season continues tonight with PFL 5, featuring the league’s top welterweight and light heavyweight contenders as they look to earn their place in the 2021 PFL Playoffs. PFL 5 emanates from the PFL Regular Season Bubble at the Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Headlining tonight’s 10-fight offering is welterweight mixed martial arts star Rory “The Red King” MacDonald taking on Brazilian veteran Gleison Tibau. MacDonald is looking to follow up on his dominant PFL debut and earn a spot in the postseason. Tibau, on the other hand, is looking to keep his PFL hopes alive and will try to bounce back at the expense of MacDonald.
In the co-main event, 2019 PFL Welterweight Champion Ray Cooper III faces Nikolay Aleksakhin. Cooper III also has his sights set on a return to the PFL playoffs as he tries to remain unbeaten in the regular season. Aleksakhin, meanwhile, finds himself in a must-win situation as he looks to pick up his first win of the 2021 PFL season.
Also on the card, 2019 PFL Light Heavyweight Champion Emiliano “He-Man” Sordi faces Dan Spohn in a featured bout between top 205-pound contenders. Sordi aims to move one step closer to another PFL Light Heavyweight Championship run, while Spohn is hungry to bounce back from his loss earlier this season.
