Phil Hawes is back again, meets Khadzhimurat Bestaev on DWCS, Sept. 8
Phil Hawes is a familiar face on Dana White’s Contender Series.
After falling short on season one of DWCS, Hawes meets Khadzhimurat Bestaev on episode six of the fourth season on Sept. 8.
MMA Junkie was the first to report Hawes return to the show.
It added to the list of tryouts for Hawes. Hawes competed in the entry round of Season 23 “The Ultimate Fighter.” He lost a unanimous decision to eventual winner Andrew Sanchez.
Phil Hawes reappeared on the first season of the DWCS, losing by second-round head kick to Julian Marquez. Since then, Hawes won his last three bouts by first-round TKO.
The 31-year-old most recently put away Yuri Fraga at Brave CF 34 on Jan. 19. His other victories are over Dominik Schober and Michael Wilcox in 2019.
It’s been close to two years since Besteav stepped into the cage.
Bestaev is currently riding a two-fight win streak. In his last outing, he earned a first-round submission over Robert Allensworth at Gladiator Challenge in October 2018.
Bestaev is yet to go to a decision, with five knockouts and five submission victories to his name.
