Philipe Lins comes out swinging and stops Ovince Saint Preux early at UFC Vegas 69

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to us tonight, February 18, 2023, for UFC Vegas 69, going down live from the UFC Apex in Enterprise, Nevada.

Headlining the event is a women’s flyweight bout between no. 3 ranked former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade (24-9) and no. 10 ranked 23-year-old prodigy Erin Blanchfield (10-1).

Co-headlining the event is a light-heavyweight affair between Jordan Wright (12-4) and The Ultimate Fighter 30 finalist Zac Pauga (5-1).

Coming in the middle of the preliminary card tonight was also a light-heavyweight showdown, this one between longtime staple Ovince Saint Preux (26-17) and former PFL heavyweight champion Philipe Lins (16-5). Both men snapped two-fight losing streaks in their most recent performances with decision victories in April and May of last year respectively.

Official Result: Philipe Lins def. Ovince Saint Preux via TKO (punches) at :49 of round one

Lins counters an opening leg kick from Saint Preux with a nasty left cross about five seconds into the bout and stuns him badly. He continues to walk Saint Preux down, absolutely swarming him with his boxing along the fence.

Some of these punches are missing, but some are also landing and keeping Saint Preux from returning with shots of his own.

As Saint Preux is attempting to escape, he isn’t fast enough and leaves his face wide open for another vicious left hand that drops him. The referee was forced to stop the fight due to Lin’s tenacious onslaught early on in the opening round.

Philipe Lins improves his win streak to two-straight inside the octagon with a very impressive performance over perhaps the most experienced 205 lb talent on the roster.

Three fights, three finishes thus far into UFC Vegas 69!

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
