UFC 227 will showcase a highly anticipated rematch between two amazing athletes. Henry Cejudo will face off against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson under the bright lights for a second time on Saturday. Cejudo is hoping to secure the win, but his shot at redemption is doubtful. Let’s break down why Johnson will once again walk away with the win.
There’s no disputing that Cejudo is a phenomenal wrestler and while that is a huge asset, this isn’t just wrestling. Demetrious Johnson is a finisher as well as an overall more experienced fighter. The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior, which is why Johnson is the easy pick in this rematch. Johnson has a long track record of finishing opponents by either knockout or submission. Of the champion’s 30 fights, 27 of them are wins and of the 27 wins, 16 of them were finishes. Having previously finished Cejudo via TKO, it’s very likely he’ll add another finish to his record Saturday night.
Cejudo has also finished fights, however Johnson is on an impressive 13 fight win streak. In comparison, Cejudo suffered another loss immediately after his lost to Johnson. He has turned it around with securing wins in last two fights. Cejudo continues to improve his game. He has also proven dangerous in the past with strikes, however Johnson’s experience will allow him to avoid falling into any trap that Cejudo may try to set for him.
Cejudo is no slouch in the cage, it’s not a matter of if Johnson will win, but simply what round he wants to finish in and how he wants to end the fight.
