Quemuel Ottoni
The feelings when this PFL Challenger Series opportunity came his way
“I was excited. I was expecting something big when I became the Jungle Fight champion. Knew something like this was coming my way. So it was just a matter of time but very excited.”
The victory that saw Ottoni garner the Jungle Fight welterweight belt
“It was great. It was the fulfillment of a dream. I pretty well started my career with Jungle Fight. So it’s always been something that’s been in the back of my head. It’s something that I’ve had that’s a big goal of mine to become their champion. So once that happened, it was just that moment of just kind of like feeling grounded and understanding like alright, what’s next?”
Being the only person to have defeated Alex Pereira in MMA as of this writing
“Oh, it was great memories. I remember back then at the time he was already knocking people out left, right, and center; heavy-handed. I was attentive to that. It’s nothing but the best memories. I was very fortunate that night.”
PFL Challenger Series 9
Ottoni saying the best is yet to come and what that represents for him
“No doubt to become a PFL world champion and take a million dollars home.”
Thoughts on his next opponent, Jozef Wittner
“Yeah, I probably watched his fights close to ten times. My brother does a great job here with me in preparing me. He is attentive to detail on this side of things. So we’ve been watching his tape together and picking up on gaps that we can capitalize on. He (Wittner) does a great job on the ground and he keeps his guard high even when landing big shots. So I’ve just got to stay attentive. Respect him but at the same time knowing my gameplan.”
Parting thoughts for Ottoni
“Just ask fans to follow, to root for me. Big things coming ahead and yeah I mean, this is going to be a different one for me. My brother’s visa got denied. He’s not going to be able to come with me, he’s always around. So just looking forward to bringing this one back to Brazil and particularly, back for him.”
