Ray Flores: “The winner of Crawford vs Spence will punch their ticket to the International Boxing Hall of Fame”
On Saturday, July 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada, boxing will showcase two of the very best welterweights to ever step inside the ring, when Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr fight to see who the first four-belt undisputed champion will be. In a fight that many fans and pundits have been calling for, Crawford and Spence will not only fight for championship supremacy but also, a career-defining legacy. To break it all down, boxing announcer and commentator Ray Flores spoke with MyMMANews to discuss the importance of this showdown.
As someone who has been on some of the biggest stages in boxing, Ray Flores has seen a lot (including the circus that was Mayweather vs McGregor) but in speaking to MyMMANews, he emphasized just how special this fight is not only for these two fighters, but boxing as a whole. For Crawford’s legacy, he can set himself among some of the rarest, most-accomplished boxers to ever grace the sport.
“What it does to cement Terence Crawford’s legacy is, he’ll be 40-0, he’ll be the first male boxer to become undisputed champion in two divisions, I mean that’s just unbelievable. I believe only Claressa Shields has been able to do that in the history of boxing and Terence Crawford can be the first man to do that.”
After spending time with both fighters and their camps leading up to this blockbuster fight, Ray Flores believes it’s happening at the right time for both fighters and for the sport of boxing, with the winner setting themselves up for a chance at future royalty in the Hall of Fame.
“To me, I think that this is the fight at the right time, in the right place, in the right moment and the winner of this fight will certainly punch their ticket to the International Boxing Hall of Fame.”
It doesn’t get much better with not only the championship belts on the line, but two of the very best boxers in the sport squaring off against one another with an opportunity to cement their legacy, in a fight that everyone wants to see.
