Regian Eersel Retains ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title With 46-Second Knockout Of Dmitry Menshikov
ONE Championship (ONE) returned to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium with ONE Fight Night 11: Eersel vs. Menshikov. The event featured two massive World Title bouts that capped off a series of compelling martial arts contests.
ONE Championship, in partnership with leading premium lifestyle and luxury performance brand TUMI, presented the prestigious ONE World Title belt to the World Champions.
In the ONE Fight Night 11 main event, two-sport ONE World Champion Regian Eersel retained the ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title, beating Dmitry Menshikov by knockout in just 46 seconds.
Almost immediately, Eersel sent his opponent crashing to the canvas with a blinding left hook that landed flush on the temple. Reeling from the blunt force, the Russian challenger barely regained his footing to save himself from being counted out by referee Olivier Coste, who instead called a halt to the action. With the victory, “The Immortal” improved to 10-0 in ONE Championship and has won 22 straight bouts overall.
In the co-main event, Kade Ruotolo successfully defended his ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Title against Tommy Langaker. Ruotolo’s agility and creativity were on full display, as he consistently found ways to attack from various angles, but Langaker refused to fold and constantly threatened with counter attacks off his back. After falling behind on the scorecards early, Ruotolo rallied in the second half of the match, swiftly maneuvering into advantageous positions while threatening with a variety of submission attempts. In the end, all three judges scored the bout for Ruotolo, who retained his belt via unanimous decision.
Third-ranked featherweight MMA contender Ilya Freymanov survived an early scare and stormed back to score a spectacular victory over Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg. Shinechagtga’s high-powered striking had Freymanov in a precarious position early, but the Russian star shifted gears and looked for an opportunity to take the action to the ground. Once on the mat, Freymanov worked his way toward a submission, latching onto a rear-naked to tap out the Mongolian in the first round.
Former ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion and #1-ranked contender Superbon Singha Mawynn scored another highlight-reel victory, knocking out #5-ranked Tayfun Ozcan with his patented head kick in the second round. The Thai superstar blasted his Dutch-Turkish counterpart with surgical precision as the fight-ending blow found its mark, sending shockwaves through the arena.
