Rick Hawn Lands Opponent: Carlo Prater at Titan FC 32
Former Bellator fighter Rick “Ghengis” Hawn will fight Carlo Prater at Titan FC 32 on December 19 in Tsongas Center Lowell, Massachusetts. Hawn (18-4) was released by Bellator after losing back-to-back fights to Douglas Lima and Dave Jansen. The 38 year old former Olympic Judoka will drop a weight class to face Prater in the lightweight division.
Titan FC was having a difficult time finding Hawn an opponent, and while Hawn was training full time in training camp preparing for an opponent, only one person stepped up, bantamweight fighter Pedro Gonzalez. Gonzalez was two weight classes smaller and the match didn’t seem like it would fit.
Former UFC fighter Carlo Prater steps in.
Prater (31-14-1) had a brief stint in the UFC, going 1-2 in the organization. Prater has been in a slump, losing four of his last five matches, including his last bout back in May 2013 to Carlos Diego Ferreira. Prater’s highlight in his 46-fight career was a submission victory over Carlos Condit.
Hawn at one time won the Bellator welterweight tournament, and a title shot. Both fighters will be making their debut for Titan FC, and it will be interesting to see if this will be a grappling clinic, or if the fighters will be looking to trade bombs, looking for that highlight reel knockout of the evening.
