Robert Whittaker reacts following close loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 271: “I’m evolving as a fighter”

UFC middleweight Robert Whittaker reacted following a narrow decision loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 271, saying “I’m evolving as a fighter.”

Whittaker fought Adesanya tooth-and-nail for 25 minutes in the main event of UFC 271, which took place last Saturday at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. After Adesanya knocked down Whittaker and clearly won the first round, the rest of the fight was extremely close and competitive. When the five rounds were over, fans and media were unsure which way the judges would go. Ultimately, the judges favored Adesanya as the winner, with the three cageside judges scoring the bout 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46 in favor of Adesanya.

Many fans, however, are adamant that Whittaker won the fight. Indeed, “Bobby Knuckles” himself said following the event that he felt he did enough to win the fight. But the judges went with Adesanya.

Instead of being sour about the loss, Whittaker is taking it all in stride. One of the most genuine fighters in the game today, “The Reaper” took to his social media following the loss to Adesanya at UFC 271 to react to his recent loss. Although Whittaker could be bitter about things, he instead recorded a video with a giant smile on his face, and he released the following statement where he gave himself credit for his evolution.

“It excites there is no ceiling, Ive come out on top I’m evolving as a fighter. Every fight you can see a better version of myself it honestly just excites me there is no ceiling. Thank you to all my Fans, supporters, sponsors, team mates, everybody that got on board to help me through this camp, I do it because of you guys and I’m able to do because of of you guys. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Stay tuned the Reaper is only getting better!!!”
