Roosevelt Roberts chokes out Brok Weaver in round two
After holding three events in the span of eight days in Jacksonville, Florida, the UFC returns to Las Vegas, Nevada for UFC on ESPN 9 tonight, Saturday, May 30.
Taking place at the UFC Apex, the event is headlined by former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Gilbert Burns. In the co-main event, Blagoy Ivanov takes on Augusto Sakai in a heavyweight clash.
Lightweights Roosevelt Roberts and Brok Weaver meet inside the octagon on the main card.
In his last outing, Roberts earned a unanimous decision against Alexander Yakovlev at UFC on ESPN+ 21 in November 2019. It came after a unanimous decision loss to Vinc Pichel at UFC on ESPN 3 in June 2019.
Weaver gave up 20 percent of his purse after coming in heavy on the scale at 157.5. Weaver’s UFC debut win came by disqualification after being hit with an illegal knee by Rodrigo Vargas at UFC on ESPN+ 25 in February.

ROUND 1
Roosevelt and Weaver meet in the center, Roosevelt lands a leg kick right away. Weaver brings the pressure and backs Roosevelt against the cage. Roosevelt gets space and they are in the center. Weaver puts Roosevelt against the cage again. Roosevelt turns and puts Weaver against the cage. The two exchange words back-and-forth. Both get space and Roberts lands a left hand. Roberts in the center, continues to talk to Weaver. Weaver pushes Roberts against the cage, but Roberts escapes quickly. Roberts getting the better of the exchanges early. Roberts lands a solid leg kick. Weaver comes forward, eats a jab. Weaver gets Roberts against the cage again, working the hooks. Weaver attempts to connect some knees. Roberts escapes the clinch and immediately works his hands. Weaver backs Roberts to the fence. Weaver trying to get the legs of Roberts. Roberts reverses positions, but they return to center. Weaver backs up Roberts, but Roberts in sinks in guillotine. Weaver tries to escape, but Roberts is on his back. Roberts ends the round behind Weaver.

Roosevelt pushes forward right away. Now, Weaver comes forward and presses Roosevelt against the cage. Roosevelt escapes and eats a jab. Weaver tries to press Roosevelt against the cage again, but Roosevelt reverses. Weaver attempts a guillotine, but Roosevelt escapes quickly. Roosevelt lands a right hand, changes levels and gets a takedown. Roosevelt is in half guard and lands some left hands on top of Weaver. Roosevelt attempts a darce choke, but Weaver scrambles. Roosevelt gets mount and then takes the back of Weaver. Roosevelt goes for a rear-naked choke, but Weaver defends. Roosevelt lands some ground and pound. Weaver gives up his back and Roosevelt gets another rear-naked choke. Weaver taps.
