Roy Jones Jr. says fight against Fedor Emelianenko “possible”
Arguably two of the greatest athletes of their respective combat sports could come together in an exhibition. According to boxing great Roy Jones Jr., a fight against mixed martial arts legend Fedor Emelianenko is in negotiations.
“Yes, such a fight is possible as an exhibition,” Jones told Tass.ru. “We have already somehow negotiated on this subject, but they have not been confirmed.”
Jones, 53, is a former four-division world champion and holds dual American and Russian citizenship. His last fight was an exhibition against fellow boxing legend Mike Tyson in 2020. The fight went the distance and was ruled a draw.
Emelianenko, 46, a native of Russia, is the former PRIDE FC heavyweight champion and currently under contract with Bellator MMA. He is scheduled to headline Bellator 290 next month in a retirement bout against Ryan Bader.
