Ryan Garcia Remains Undefeated: Defeats Emmanuel Tagoe by Unanimous Decision
Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (22-0-0, 18 KOs) returned to the ring last night against former IBF and WBO titleholder Emmanuel Tagoe (32-2-0, 15 KOs).
Following nearly a year and a half hiatus, Ryan Garcia showed no signs of ‘ring rust’ as he laid it on Tagoe to claim a unanimous decision victory.
Garcia asserted dominance at the very beginning of the bout, landing strong body shots, stiff jabs, and his notorious left hooks. Garcia even dropped Tagoe in the second round following a series of right hands.

It was a great start for the undefeated 23-year-old and as the bout went on, Garcia proved to be too much for the 33-year-old former champion.
At the end of it all, Garcia landed nearly twice as many strikes as his opposition and walked away with a dominant decision victory as the scorecards read 119-110 x2, 118-109.
Ryan Garcia lands 165 out of 569 punches, compared to 90 out of 391 punches from Emmanuel Tagoe.
Judges give Garcia a unanimous decision — 119 to 108 x2; 118-109.

At just 23-years-old, Garcia is ranked in the top five in the WBC and the Ring’s lightweight division. Earlier this month, Oscar De La Hoya – Founder and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions – stated that “the vision [for Garcia] is to become world champion this year.”
With the win over Tagoe, Garcia may just find himself in a title fight by the end of the year.
Whether Garcia’s next bout comes against WBA titleholder Gervonta “Tank” Davis, the winner of the WBA (super), WBO, Ring, WBC, and IBF unification bout between George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney, or someone else, the future is bright for the young star.
