UFC Veteran Ryan Jimmo Killed During Hit-and-Run

Canadian born mixed martial artist and former UFC fighter Ryan Jimmo was killed during a hit-and-run incident early Sunday morning.

According to police, Jimmo, 34 was involved in an early morning incident in the parking lot of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada’s H2O Lounge. Jimmo was reportedly walking away from the altercation when the men he was speaking to — two Caucasian males in a dark-colored pickup truck — accelerated and struck him. Police are currently searching for the suspects, who nearly hit another car as they fled the scene of the crime.

Jimmo was transported to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Jimmo, last fought professionally, May 30, 2015 under the UFC banner.  He accumulated a 19-5 professional record dating back to 2007.  He was the former Maximum Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion and trained at Power MMA in Arizona.

Jimmo is the second professional mixed martial arts fighter this year to have died from a hit-and-run incident.  Bellator MMA’s Jordan Parson’s was hit and killed in Florida, last month.
