Sage Northcutt to return after four-year layoff
May 17, 2019 was the last time Sage Northcutt (11-3) fought professionally.
The 26-year-old mixed martial arts star known as “Super” is set to return to action, in a welterweight bout against Ahmed Mujtaba (10-2) at ONE Championship Fight Night 10 in May. The bout, which is Northcutt’s first in the U.S. in five years, was first announced by Sports Illustrated MMA’s Justin Barrasso.
ONE Fight Night 10 will be the promotion’s debut in the U.S. The card takes place May 5 at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, Colorado and streams on Amazon Prime Video.
Northcutt made his ONE Championship debut in his last fight, a 29-second bout against Cosmo Alexandre, that left him with extensive injuries, including eight fractures that required a nine-hour surgery.
Northcutt had a three-year run in the UFC prior to signing with ONE. He signed to the UFC at 5-0 and won his first two fights with a TKO and submission.
Mujtaba has fought for ONE since 2016 and is 4-2 for the promotion, including back-to-back first-round finishes.
