Scott Askham

Scott Askham returning to action in massive KSW main event

KSW is set for their biggest show in years with KSW 83: Colosseum 2 set for Saturday, June 02, 2023. The main event will see a rubber match between KSW legend Mamed Khalidov and former champion Scott Askham. KSW is showing just how important this matchup is with three title fights on the card, and the main event being a non-title rubber match. With Askham returning for the shelf after a back injury kept him out for two and a half years, how ready is he for one of MMA’s all-time greats?  This event can be seen on the KSW app and on KSWtv.

Returning From Injury

“It’s been a long road but since surgery, it’s been mainly ups. Had a few weeks where I thought fuck but now, I’m past all that and cooking on gas! What a fight to come back to! Honestly proud to be in such a massive main event after everything that’s gone off. I missed out on big fight after big fight back in 2021 then needed surgery and felt it all slipping away from me so to come straight back into the big fights, I’m more than happy,” Askham told MyMMANews.

After a tenure in the UFC, Askham really found his niche in KSW. After one victorious bout in ACB (now ACA), Askham joined the ranks of KSW, making his organizational debut at KSW 42 in March 2018. The first-round knockout victory was just the start of things to come, amassing a very impressive 4-1 record. That lone loss came in the form of a first-round knockout to Khalidov back at KSW 55 in October 2020.

What’s Next For Askham If He’s Victorious?

The vacant KSW middleweight championship happens to be one of those three titles up for grabs on the same night. Pawel Pawlak and Tomasz Romanowski will meet to see who sits atop the star-studded division. Askham already has big plans for that winner, should he walk out of KSW 83 as the victor in the night’s main event. “The middleweight belt is up for grabs on the same night. Whoever takes that will 100% be getting called out on the mic after the fight. Be a good year! Massive win in June, then end the year with a title fight,” stated Askham.

All Askham needed to say to let us know he is ready for this matchup:  “I’m a different animal when I’m out here training. Can’t wait to get in there!”
