Sean Woodson talks UFC Nashville win; calls himself “the dark horse of the featherweight division”

Sean Woodson was out nearly one year before his UFC Nashville appearance over the weekend.

To say Woodson made up for lost time maybe a bit of an understatement as he looked great in his unanimous decision win over Dennis Buzukja.

Prior to the fight, Woodson was worried that he might not be to fight on fight night as his opponents kept pulling out. Eventually, on fight week, with three opponents pulling out, the fourth time was the charm as Buzukja accepted the fight on days notice.

While game planning for the fight was definitely difficult, Woodson looked he never missed time and never had opponent changes as he was great from start to finish.

Throughout the course of the fight, Woodson would land calf kick after calf kick to beat up Buzukja’s legs.

As a former boxer, Woodson’s hands were also on display as he landed several big shots which included some heavy body shots.

Perhaps one surprise from the fight came the second and third rounds as Woodson was doing ground work and attempting submission. While he’s known for his size and his boxing, it showed that Woodson has been working on that part of his game in his time away from the octagon.

Following the great performance, Woodson spoke with MyMMANews about his return, his UFC Nashville victory and how he’s planning to be active from here on out.

You can watch his full interview in the video above.
