Shawne Merriman’s Lights Out Xtreme Fighting to host LXF 8 on Fubo Sports on January 14
On Saturday, January 14, former NFL linebacker Shawne Merriman will hold the eight installment of his California-based mixed martial arts promotion, Lights Out Xtreme Fighting.
LXF 8 will be held at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium in Riverside, California and will be broadcast on the live, free-to-consumer TV network, Fubo Sports.
Next Saturday’s event will begin a year-long partnership between LXF and Fubo Sports that will span throughout 2023.
“I am incredibly proud of this program and beyond excited to provide these athletes with a platform to showcase their physical skills and artistry,” says Merriman. “This is a sport that has been a passion of mine for over seventeen years. As a former NFL player, I know the value of being seen by millions of viewers around the world. My goal is to use the “Lights Out” brand I created in my NFL career to help other athletes get the visibility they deserve.”
The event will feature Marvin “The Riverside Warrior” Garcia (12-4) vs. Walel “The Pharoah” Watson (14-13) in the night’s main event.
Garcia returns to action for the first time since January 2020. During his three-year absence, “The Riverside Warrior” has been taking care of his parents.

Garcia won’t have it easy however when he steps foot into the LXF cage, as he meets a four-fight UFC veteran in Watson who returns to MMA after a stint in bare knuckle fighting.
Also on the card, Carrese “One Punch” Archer (2-8) takes on Cesar Gracie Fight Team protege David “Tarzan” Douglas (8-11).
Archer, who has a grudge with the Cesar Gracie team, went viral last year after an altercation with now former UFC fighter Nate Diaz.
Another UFC veteran in Willie “Whoop Ass” Gates (12-11) will face off against Musa Toliver (9-12-1) in a bantamweight contest.
Fubo Sports will exclusively stream the LXF 8 event in the U.S. and Canada. FuboTV will make the event available as VOD in Spain and Fubo subsidiary Molotov will make the event available as VOD in France.
“Shawne Merriman’s Lights Out Xtreme Fighting continues to be a fan-favorite among our audience, who can’t get enough MMA content,” said Pamela Duckworth, head of Fubo Networks and originals, FuboTV. “We’re anticipating bringing LXF back to Fubo in a big way by making the live high-energy event available to stream in more places than ever before. Shawne’s enthusiasm and passion are unmatched, and we’re thrilled to be partnering with him on LXF 8.”
The event preliminaries will stream live at 9 p.m. EST / 6 p.m. PST and the main event will stream live at 10 p.m. EST / 7 p.m. PST.
