Simon Biyong on MMA as a physical art form at Bellator 261 Media Day
Bellator 261 takes place on Friday, June 25th live from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The fistic festivities broadcast on Showtime. I spoke with Simon Biyong at Bellator 261 Media Day ahead of his main card light heavyweight bout against the presently undefeated product out of JacksonWink Christian Edwards.
Hemlé has a 7-1 career MMA record and is riding a four-fight win streak heading in this contest. He has an eighty-six percent finishing rate overall. Also, Simon Biyong has previously captured gold with Slam FC and EFC Worldwide in their light heavyweight ranks.
Biyong last competed at Rizin 20 on the promotion’s 2019 New Year’s Eve show. He finished Vitaly Shemetov with strikes in the second stanza of their mixed martial arts bout. This upcoming outing against Edwards marks the Bellator debut for Simon Biyong.

Earlier you were talking about your passion for art and I’m seeing that painting is something you enjoy doing there.
I’m kind of wondering when you’re out there in the Bellator cage, do you look at it as like an extension of that? How much do you look at it as creative-minded, artistic expression?
“Well, obviously, for me, martial art is an expression of body. Body is an art of peace. You just have to think how our body is built. No other species on the planet looks like us. Humans, we are special animals. And I think art is just like that. Just like that, you have to show what you have inside your body. Inside your heart and martial art and art have that same way. You have to be patient. If you want a good result.”
“If you want to be near perfection, the first thing to learn is to be patient. So I’m going to be patient, I’m going to pick my shot and I’m going to get that finish.”
