Tae Ho Jin: “It will be a KO by punch within the first three minutes”

Tucked away on the prelims of ONE 159, Tae Ho Jin is taking on Valmir da Silva in a welterweight bout. Jin is one of the top prospects out of South Korea and with a win hopes to impress the brass at ONE Championship.

Tae Ho Jin at ONE 159

At ONE 159, Tae Ho Jin knows where his opponent is good and is aiming to use his tools and his long frame to his advantage to keep da Silva where he’s not comfortable.

“His strength is his power at close range. His hooks are very powerful. So, I’m planning to keep distance, use my long arms, and knock him out with my straight or long uppercut.”

Jin points to the footwork of Valmir da Silva as his weakness and one that he hopes to exploit.

“He has no footwork. So, if I use a lot of footwork on the outside and fight like a sniper, I’ll knock him out.

Tae Ho Jin is making bold predictions for his fight at ONE 159. Tae Ho Jin plans to show his skills as a striker after he won his ONE debut by kimura in round one. This time, he plans on knocking his opponent out in quick fashion.

“I will look for an opening in his tight guard and knock him out cold. [It will be a] KO by punch within the first three minutes.”

Finally, Jin says that now that he’s not fighting at lightweight and moved up to middleweight, he feels great and his body is moving like he wants. He feels like a better fighter and plans to show that at ONE 159.

“I think the biggest thing [about going on a winning streak] was the weight class. I cut too much weight before. Now that I’ve found a perfect weight class, I’m showing my true potential. And even with training, I used to only focus on losing weight. But now, I’m focused on improving my skills and training with teammates. That helped me a lot.”

Be sure to tune in to ONE 159 on July 22 as Tae Ho Jin and Valmir da Silva plan to put on a great show for the promotion’s debut on Amazon Prime!
