Tai Tuivasa KO vs. Hunsucker

Tai Tuivasa blitzes through Harry Hunsucker in under a minute at UFC Vegas 22

UFC Vegas 22 will take place on March 20, 2021 at the UFC Apex facility in, Nevada, Las Vegas, United States.

A pivotal middleweight bout between Derek Brunson and Kevin Holland will serve as the main event. In the co main, MMA veterans are set to clash at welterweight as Kenan Song and Max Griffin go head to head.

Before we get to all that, heavyweights Tai Tuivasa and Harry Hunsucker are set to throw down when they kick of the main card. After some trouble of course, Tuivasa was ordinally scheduled to fight Don’Tale Mayes, but ultimately will no longer fight after he was not medically cleared and subsequently pulled from the event.

Tuivasa (11-3), last fought against veteran Stefan Struve at UFC 254 last October, when he potentially saved his UFC job with a first-round TKO against the now retired Struve. Heading into his UFC debut Tuivasa was hailed as a heavyweight prospect, starting out 3-0 inside the Octagon before three consecutive defeats to Junior dos Santos, Blagoi Ivanov, and Sergey Spivak.

Hunsucker (7-3), the Kentuckian takes this fight on short notice and is coming off a first-round TKO win against Cory Moon at HR MMA 119. He competed on Dana White’s Contender Series last year, losing by TKO to Jared Vanderaa. Hunsucker can blitz into range much like his opponent. The 32-year-old embodies the classic case of durability mixed with spotty cardio, but this fight isn’t expected to go this distance. The Elite Martial Arts & Fitness fighter  has finished all of his victories coming inside the distance.

Here’s how the fight played out round by round:

ROUND 1:

The third man in the octagon is Herb Dean. Hunsucker hits Tuivasa with a quick one two to start of the fight. Tuivasa shakes it off and lands a calf kick in return. Hunsucker steps in with a left hand and Tuivasa counters with a big right over the top and it knocks down Hunsucker. Tuivasa follows it up with a  blitz into the guard and then followed up with some ground and pound and the ref waves off the fight. TUIVASA makes it a short night in the octagon.

Official Result: Tai Tuivasa def. Harry Hunsucker via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 0:49
