Team Ciryl Gane believes Jon Jones will impose wrestling-based game plan at UFC 285

Team Ciryl Gane believes that Jon Jones will impose a wrestling-based game plan when they square off next month at UFC 285.

After a three-year layoff, Jones returns to the Octagon next month when he fights Gane for the vacant UFC heavyweight title. On paper, it’s a very intriguing fight between two incredible athletes. If the fight stays on the feet, it should be an explosive bout between fighters who know how to strike with the best of them. But if it goes to the ground, that’s the area where Jones will likely have the greatest advantage when it comes to their styles.

In fact, Gane’s head coach believes that Jones is going to wrestle right off the bat and make it the most important part of his game plan. Speaking to Farah Hannoun of MMAjunkie.com, Gane’s coach Fernand Lopez explained why he believes Jones will make grappling the main focal point of his attack against Gane.

“Absolutely. I think that no matter what Jon Jones or his team will say, they have a Plan A as wrestling. No matter what they do in the first round, they will try the wrestling as soon as this thing starts. I’m not saying that Jon Jones will not catch Ciryl there and here, time to time. I believe he’s very good at striking, I believe he can touch anyone. But let’s be serious: Ciryl is something on the feet. Whenever you start to fight with him, you will find out very clearly that there’s something that pushes you back. You will find out very quick that this guy is different, is another level of striking. The way he moves, the body language will put you in a situation you can’t face, and you have to shoot the double leg and shoot for the body lock. So, I know we will face the very good wrestling of Jon Jones,” Lopez said.

Who do you think wins the UFC 285 main event, Ciryl Gane or Jon Jones?
