Team Lakay’s Jhanlo Mark Sangiao signs to ONE Championship

Jhanlo Mark Sangiao is now a part of the ONE Championship roster. The son of Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao is readying to step into the ONE Circle as an 18-year-old martial artist.

News of the signing was revealed via the promotion’s official social media.

Team Lakay has produced a handful of world titlists within the ONE Championship ranks including Joshua Pacio, Eduard Folayang, and Kevin Belingon.

A team that has carved out a reputation as being deadly strikers. But Sangiao has shown well-roundedness in his ground and pound fluidity and aptitude for submissions in past bouts.

The young Sangiao is a hotly discussed prospect and aims to carve a swath through ONE’s bantamweight division when he debuts.

In a statement on his personal social media, Jhanlo Mark Sangiao stated the following:

“It’s high time!! Now we got it right here and now! But before everything else, let me say thank you so much to Sir @yodchatri and to @onechampionship for giving me this rare and precious chance to perform in the global stage. And to show what I have, what we have here in Team Lakay. 🙏🙏🙏 Let me not also forget to say “Salamat!” to the man who always supported me, since day one. And I know will always be supporting me though this journey. To my dad and to our Coach, @marksangiao. #teamlakay #onechampionship #mma”

A specific opponent, date, and location were not outlined for Sangiao’s first foray into ONE Championship competition. Jhanlo Mark Sangiao has a 3-0 pro MMA record at this juncture.

His first fight saw him win via strikes in one minute against Danilo Dangalan in May 2018. Sangiao’s two subsequent contests would see him emerge victorious via rear-naked choke in both bouts.

His last fight took place in December 2019 when he bested Cris John Delica via the aforementioned RNC.

Who do you think Jhanlo Mark Sangiao should debut against in the ONE Circle?
