NTT’s Teshay Gouthro on Unified MMA 51 Niagara Title Bout
Teshay Gouthro clashes with Eric Shelton at Unified MMA 51 on June 23rd for the UMMA Interim Bantamweight Championship.
Gouthro appeared yet again on Bowks Talking Bouts to discuss how things could shake out with fighting the lineal 135-pound UMMA champ, looking to become the next Niagara Top Team talent in the UFC, and so much more. Excerpts from our chat are below.

The feelings fighting for a title in Niagara Falls and representing Niagara Top Team
“They were supposed to have a card in April that I was supposed to fight on. Then it got canceled because UFC was having a fight the same day so they canceled it. But right then and there they’re like oh we’re coming to Niagara in June. So I was like let’s get it… It’s gonna be a stacked card.”
Mapping out a path towards Unified bantamweight gold and the excitement readying for this opportunity now
“Well like I expected a strap. I wasn’t too excited, I kind of demanded it because like I was supposed to fight for the strap my first Unified fight. But Noah Ali’s a little ***** and keeps saying no. So this one I was like yeah, make it an interim or ******* what’s the point? Not even for a strap, I just want to go five rounds… I just need a fight, man. It’s been too long.”

If Gouthro sees a unification bout with Noah Ali happening or does the lineal champ keep saying no per Gouthro’s account of things
“Nah, he’s soft as ****. I expect me to win this, KO this guy, and then we’re in the UFC. That’s where my manifestation ends up going. I don’t want to fight no more regional. It’s time to get paid and **** around with the big boys, you know what I mean? (laughs). These guys are just steppingstones. Well, this guy’s a big ******* name right.”
How fighting a former UFC veteran here serves Gouthro’s goal of fighting in the UFC someday soon
“That’s why we said yes. Also, because no one else was down to fight. So ****, we had to fight someone.”

Training earlier this year in Las Vegas with Merab Dvalishvili and Patchy Mix
“Oh that was *******, that was the best, man. That blew my confidence right up. Patchy Mix has been my boy from like five-six years ago. We grew up on the amateur scene and like he turned pro pretty quick. We fought at King of the Cage a lot right. So we’d always see each other and ****. So, it was good to train with him. Now he’s a million-dollar man, bantamweight champ, ******* I got to get good rounds with him (and) Merab. ****, feeling Merab was great because he’s what number two in the world? Like if that’s the best in the world, it’s ******* very achievable.”
Teshay Gouthro continued, “We sparred but ****, he shows up game day, if I were to show up game day, **** I’ve got money on myself. Anyone, any ******* one though, right. But it was good to get that confidence. Just to feel them and see what the highest level is I’m like, it’s nice… I will be the best in the world one day. It just kind of cemented it in my mind. Like I already knew it but just feeling that level and feeling what I have to do to be able to become the best, I’m already doing it.”
