The Biggest MMA Betting Events of 2020
For those of you who are fans of fighting and martial arts, the year of 2020 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting years in the history of combat sports. If you like to have a cheeky wager now and then, MMA betting events and indeed boxing betting events, will be plentiful this year. We’ll soon get to enjoy Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder for a second time, we saw the Notorious Conor McGregor back to his best in a victory over Cowboy Donald Cerrone, and there’s plenty more to place your mma bets on. Here’s a look at some of the biggest MMA betting events of 2020.
Floyd Mayweather returns?
Okay, technically Floyd Mayweather is a boxer, and in truth, we don’t know for certain whether he’ll fight at all. He has however, stated that he plans on fighting twice in 2020, and will therefore be coming out of retirement once again. We’re including Floyd here, despite him being a boxer, because there have been rumours of him either fighting in the Octagon, or fighting an MMA fighter in a boxing match like he did with Conor a few years ago. Whether this is all talk or not remains to be seen, but Floyd has met with Dana White, the owner of the UFC, several times recently, so keep your eyes peeled. Sadly, we don’t know when, or if Floyd will be fighting again, but a late summer/early fall fight would be likely.
UFC 249
UFC 249 is expected to be one of the most successful UFC MMA betting events of 2020. Taking place on the 18th of April, 2020, UFC 249 will see Khabib Nurmagomedov fight Tony Ferguson for the title in the main event. This fight will be special because it has fallen through four times prior in the past, due to illness and/or injury. Khabib is one of the UFC’s most exciting fighters, and he proved himself in a dominant victory over Conor McGregor back in late 2018. Khabib previously looked unbeatable but many hardcore MMA fans are now convinced that Tony Ferguson will be the one to stop Khabib. Either way, it looks set to be one of the most exciting fights in the UFC.
Bellator 240
We all know that the UFC is ‘THE’ MMA company that draws the biggest crowds, but over the years Bellator has grown and expanded at an astonishing rate. Whereas the UFC is the MMA equivalent of the English Premier League in football/soccer, Bellator was once considered the equivalent of league 2, whereas now it’s the equivalent to the Championship. Held at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Sat Feb 22nd 2020, Bellator 240 will see James Gallagher take on Cal Ellenor in the main event. Both fighters may be light in weight, weighing in at just 135 pounds or so, but this looks set to be one of the most explosive main event fights of the year so far. Geordie Shore’s Aaron ‘The Joker’ Chalmers will also fight again, this time taking on Austin Clem in a fight that will surely be the Newcastle fighter’s most testing bout to date.
