Thiago Moises to face Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC Paris this September

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to Paris later this summer for UFC on ESPN 53.

UFC on ESPN 53 is to go down on September 2, 2023, live from the Accor Arena in Paris, France, and it is to be headlined by a heavyweight clash between no. 2 ranked former interim champion Ciryl Gane (11-2) and no. 7 ranked Sergey Spivak (16-3).

Another exciting clash going down at this UFC Paris event comes in the lightweight division between another French standout, Benoit Saint-Denis (11-1), who will be facing Thiago Moises (17-6).

Saint-Denis will be looking to make it four-straight inside the octagon following defeat up at 170 lbs to Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos (UD) in his promotional debut. Since moving back down to 155 lbs Saint-Denis has defeated the likes of Niklas Stolze (rear naked choke), Gabriel Miranda (TKO), and Ismael Bonfim (rear naked choke).

Coming to the UFC with a perfect record of 8-0, Saint-Denis had also finished all eight of those wins with one knockout and seven submissions.

Now he faces a high-level submission artist himself in BJJ black belt Thiago Moises.

Moises, though would go 1-2 through his first three octagon bouts, would go on a three-fight win streak soon following with victories over Michael Johnson (ankle lock), Bobby Green (UD), and Alexander Hernandez (UD).

However, he’d get finished for the first, and second times of his career over his next two outings, being defeated by current UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev (rear naked choke) and Joel Alvarez (TKO).

Moises did rebound over his latest two appearances, defeating the likes of Christos Giagos (rear naked choke) in June of last year and Melquizael Costa (neck crank) earlier this year in January.

Who comes out of this lightweight contest going down at UFC Paris on top?

I became a fan of combat sports when I was 12 years old. I was scrolling through the channels and landed upon Versus, where WEC was televised. Urijah Faber fought Jens Pulver for the second time that night. That's the first fight I ever saw, and I was immediately hooked. So eventually, I began covering the sport in the fourth quarter of 2018, and have since started writing about animals as well.
