Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira to headline Nov. 7 UFC Fight Night
Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira will finally fight after all. Hopefully the third booking of this fight will be the charm.
ESPN reported that this crucial light heavyweight matchup will headline a UFC Fight Night on Nov. 7.
This is now the third-time this fight has been booked. The first scheduled fight was Sept. 19, but the fight was canceled when Teixeira tested positive for coronavirus. The fight was then rescheduled for Oct. 3, however Santos then tested positive for COVID-19.
Santos (21-7) was cleared and has returned to American Top Team to resume training. He hasn’t fought since losing a split decision to Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 239 in July 2019. Following the fight it was reveled that Santos suffered a bad knee injury which has kept him out of action.
Teixeira (31-7) is currently riding a four-fight winning streak. The 40-year-old has three finishes in that streak with stoppages over Anthony Smith, Ion Cutelaba and Karl Roberson.
On Saturday at UFC 253, Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will fight in the co-main event for the vacant light heavyweight title. The winner of the Santos and Teixeira fight is expected to face the winner of the this weekend’s co-main event.
