This Day in History for ONE Championship: ONE Dynasty of Champions 3 went down

On the latest installment of This Day in History for ONE Championship, we go back to Saturday, November 21st, 2015 for ONE: Dynasty of Champions 3.

This martial arts extravaganza emanated from Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Beijing, China. A myriad of championship belts were on the line and a lot of exciting bouts transpired inside the Circle.

This Day in History for ONE Championship

Marat Gafurov retained his ONE featherweight world championship the top of the marquee fight against Narantungalag Jadambaa.

In the fourth frame of the fight, Gafurov locked in his vaunted rear-naked choke. Cobra elicited the tap with 21 seconds remaining in the round.

Kairat Akhmetov captured gold within the ONE Championship flyweight ranks. He did so by defeating the present-day king of that weight category.

Kairat Akhmetov emerged victorious over Adriano Moraes via split decision. This was the first bout the two ever had and have subsequently gone 1-1, as of this writing, in the series with one another.

Akhmetov improved to 23-0 as a pro-MMA fighter and won a world championship belt as a debutant in the ONE Circle.

Moraes fell back to 13-2 overall and his first reign as ONE flyweight world champion had come to an end. Mikinho is currently amid his third overall reign as the ONE Championship flyweight titleholder.

Nikolay Aleksakhin secured a rear-naked choke in the waning seconds of the third and final round of his contest. He finished Burenzorig Batmunkh in the process.

This was Aleksakhin’s debut under the ONE Championship banner and saw him improve to 19-3 overall as a mixed martial artist.

Also, a one-night tournament transpired inside the ONE Circle. Sen Yang narrowly emerged victorious in his debut mixed martial arts showing. He got the nod over Burigede Alateng after three rounds via split decision.

Jia Cai Zhang won his debut MMA bout via first-round submission over Feilong Cai who fell to 0-3.

Sen Yang would then eventually defeat Jia Cai Zhang in the finals by way of second-round kimura to capture the ONE Championship tournament title.
