Titan FC 40 results – Cavalcante vs Assunção on UFC Fight Pass

Titan Fighting Championship returned tonight to Coral Gables, Florida for Titan FC 40: Cavalcante vs. Assunção.  The entire event streamed exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.

In the main event JZ Cavalcante set out to defend the Titan FC lightweight strap, a belt he won just two short months ago against Pat Healy.  Cavalcante was challenged by Freddy Assunção but in a great show of sportsmanship, after Cavalcante was put to sleep in the fourth round, Assunção helped to revive his opponent.  Assunção is the new champ.

In the evening’s co-main event, rising star Jose “Shorty” Torres TKO’d Abdiel Velazques for the interim flyweight title in just his third professional mixed martial arts bout.

The opening round of a bantamweight tournament landed on the middle of the Titan FC 40 card.  Both Frank Sharipov and Andrew Whitney would advance and will fight one another in September.

In the second fight of the night UFC Veteran Ron Stallings earned a controversial split decision win over Rashaun Spencer.
