Titan FC 57 results – Brown vs. Paulino
Titan Fighting Championship traveled to the Dominican Republic for the very first time, when the promotion hosted Titan FC 57 on Saturday, October 19. The event, which was broadcast live from Pabellón de Esgrima Juan Pablo Duarte del Centro Olímpico in Santo Domingo, was available for viewing on on UFC Fight Pass.
Yesterday, Martin Brown, the then Titan FC lightweight champion, came in one pound too heavy for his scheduled five-round affair with the Dominican Republic’s own Johnasser Paulino. As a result of Brown not being able to make the required championship weight of 155-pounds, Titan FC officials have stripped him of the belt.
“It was a heartbreaking decision,” said Titan FC COO Lex McMahon. “It’s heartbreaking but at the same time it is protocol and it had to be done. Champions must come in on the mark during a title defense, and because Martin Brown came in at 156 pounds, we have to follow the rules and take the belt from him.”
McMahon said that the fight will go on as scheduled but now only Paulino has an opportunity to win the title.
“If Johansser Paulino wins the fight tomorrow night, he will be the new Titan FC lightweight champion. If Brown wins, he wins, but he does not go home with the belt,” McMahon said.
Tonight, the two combatants would go all five rounds and it was Brown who would come out on top but unfortunately for him, it is without the gold.
A second Titan FC title bout was set for Saturday night as flyweight champion Juan Puerta defended against Reynaldo Adolfo de los Santos. What an absolute war this was. Very tough back and forth fight, but in the end, “Leadfeather” Puerta submitted his opponent in the fourth round to retain his title.
At featherweight, Florida’s Landon Quinones picked apart Jeffrey Roy to earn a first round knockout.
Titan FC recently signed a three-year strategic partnership with the Dominican Republic based mixed martial arts promotion, Fighting Force, further developing Titan’s international expansion.
Two Fighting Force bantamweight World Grand Prix semi-final bouts were billed to take place tat Titan FC 57. Tommy Garcia locked horns with Juan Reyes, while Elias Faustin looked to tackle Micaias Urena.
Urena lands a flying knee followed by a big right hand that floored Faustin for a first round knockout victory.
Garcia looked incredible in a unanimous decision win over Reyes and will now meet Urena on February 1. McMahon announced that the winner of that fight will get a Titan FC contract with a chance to later move to the UFC.
Mohammed Usman, brother to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, put his opponent Alexis Garcia away in the very first round with powerful strikes to the head while on the ground.
Kamal Magomedov and Brazil’s Italo Goncalves competed in the opening bout on the main card and the fight was for the promotion’s interim welterweight title. An injury sustained by newly named Titan FC welterweight champion Michael Graves has kept him from defending his title at Titan FC 57. The winner of the Magomedov and Goncalves fight would get Graves at a later date for the official Titan FC welterweight title. Tonight was Magomedov’s night as he picked up a quick first round submission win over Goncalves.
