Titan FC 63 results – Usman vs. Hodges

Tonight, Titan Fighting Championship officials held their Titan FC 63 fight card, live from the InterContinental Hotel Miami in Miami, Florida. The six-bout card, which is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Mohammed Usman and Terrance Hodges, will be broadcast entirely on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 8 pm ET.

Usman (6-1), the younger brother of UFC welterweight champ Kamaru Usman, looks to improve his promotional record to 4-0 in his first fight of 2020. The 31-year-old capped off an unbeaten 2019 campaign with back-to-back first round finishes of Alexis Garcia and Reggie Cato.

Hodges (2-6) also makes his first appearance this calendar year, after capturing a one-night kickboxing tournament championship for regional combat sports promotion Xtreme Fight Night in 2019. The 36-year-old has won two of his last three MMA fights, but is coming off of a loss in his most recent bout in September 2019.

The vacant Titan FC flyweight title will be on the line in the co-main event as surging prospect Christian Ynastrilla takes on Wascar Cruz.

What a professional debut for Ryan Kuse, who opened up the evening against Earnest Walls.  Kuse, the much larger and taller fighter, used his reach to keep his opponent at bay, take him down, and then finish him with fantastic ground and pound in the very first round.

Trying to up the ante, Sal Guerriero put on a spectacular performance against John Birdsong, defeating him by way of submission, also in the first round.   Guerriero used his jiu jitsu to his advantage and never let Birdsong breathe, finishing him by way of rear-naked choke just shy of the four-minute mark.

There must be something in the water tonight in Miami as Gus Villamil continues the trend with yet another first round finish. This young prospect finished Nekoru Bunsie with a rear-naked choke after opening him up from strikes in the mount position.

Would you believe me if I said there was yet another first round finish tonight at Titan FC 63? Devon Dixon uses his striking from top position to force Jose Vasquez to give up his back and that is when the choke was applied and the fight was finished. Four fights in, four first round finishes.

For the first time tonight a contest has extended beyond the first round as Wascar Cruz defeated Christian Ynastrilla in the third round to claim the promotion’s vacant flyweight title.  Cruz threw a big right hand followed by a left hook which dropped Ynastrilla in the third frame.  Cruz continued to follow up with strikes before the referee called the contest off and the new champion was crowned.

In the main event, ground and pound was the deciding factor in the fight. Mohammed Usman got Terrance Hodges to the canvas for three consecutive rounds and just continued to batter him until the bell rang each time.  Usman wins a unanimous decision without question.
