Titan FC 71 Main Card Preview

Titan Fighting Championship is back with an absolutely stacked fight card with Titan FC 71 on August 6. In the main event, we have two UFC veterans in Jacob Kilburn taking on Al Alqaisi for the vacant Titan FC Featherweight Championship. Also on the card is the return of former Strikeforce Middleweight champion and UFC veteran Nate “The Great” Marquardt, and highly touted prospects in The Goat Shed’s Ryan Kuse and Richie Lewis, as well as Sanford MMA’s Devon Dixon. With that said let’s dig deeper into the matchups.

First up on the main card, is the return of one of the top Lightweight prospects coming out of The Goat Shed gym, Richie “Savage” Lewis taking on Xtreme Couture product Ernesto Rodriguez. Lewis was the U23 wrestling champion before making the transition to MMA full time, which so far he has made seamlessly. Rodriguez is a striker by trade as he has four knockouts in his six career fights (2 pro, 4 amateur). It’s going to be interesting to see if Lewis elects to show off his improved striking or use what got him to this stage and that is grappling to his advantage. Lewis will look to shine come August 6th and really put his name on the map.

Next up, is a fight in the Welterweight division between undefeated (3-0) Sanford MMA prospect Devon Dixon taking on (3-1) Brandon Lopez who will be making his Titan FC debut. Dixon has finished each of his three opponents in the first round and will be looking to make it number four against the very tough Brandon Lopez. This will be the toughest test to date for the young up and comer Dixon. Lopez is the most experienced fighter Dixon has faced thus far and looks to put up a good fight. This fight is going to show us how Dixon will be able to overcome adversity and see if he can hang in there with the best.

In the Middleweight division, we have the highly anticipated return of Nate “The Great” Marquardt who will be taking on Contender Series alumni and Titan FC veteran Michael Cora. It’s been four years since we saw Marquardt get inside the cage against Cezar Ferreira where he lost a competitive split decision. Cora hasn’t had a ton of success in the Titan FC cage compiling a lowly 1-3 record. He will be looking to bounce back in a big way to get the biggest win of his career against Marquardt. Marquardt seems dedicated to fighting again and competing at the highest level which should bring out the best in him in this matchup.

In the co-main event we have a fight in the Bantamweight division against one of Titan FC’s highly touted prospects and another The Goat Shed fighter Ryan Kuse taking on Team Alpha Male product and Titan FC newcomer Amir Kazemi. Kuse has looked sensational since making his professional debut at Titan FC 63 rattling off three wins in a row with two coming inside the distance. Kazemi is making his first appearance in over 2 years and is coming into hostile territory to get back into the win column. A win here from Kuse can possibly put him into title contention. In which you can expect the best version of Kuse coming into this matchup.

In the main event of the evening at Titan FC 71, we have a great title fight on tap in the Featherweight division between two UFC veterans Jacob Kilburn and Al Alqaisi. Both of these fighters are all action, come forward and throw down types of fighters. This will be Kilburn’s first fight since his stint with the UFC, which he will be looking to make a statement here to get back onto the big show. Meanwhile Alqaisi has returned into the win column in a big way with a first round stoppage win after his UFC departure. These two are coming into this fight looking to put on a show for the fans and you can expect them to deliver.

Titan FC 71 will be live Friday August 6th at the Intercontinental Miami. Tickets are on sale now, head over to the Titan Fighting Championship website and purchase today. You can also check out the action on UFC Fight Pass starting at 6:30 PM EST.
