Tito Ortiz Issues Apology To Jon Jones & Daniel Cormier
Tito Ortiz has made an about-face on his comments towards Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.
Ortiz, who is set for a Combate Americas showdown with Alberto Del Rio, appeared on the Domenick Nati show. During his appearance, Tito Ortiz said he’d perform better against Jones than Cormier did. Cormier caught wind of the comment and had a simple response:

Ortiz took to his Instagram account to release a video apologizing to Jones and Cormier for his comments (via BJPenn.com).

“This message goes out to Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier,” Ortiz said in the video. “I did an interview earlier this week and the reporter asked, ‘How would I do against Jon Jones in my prime?’ And my response was in a negative and disrespectful manner to both fighters.
“Jon Jones, you’re one of the greatest light heavyweight champions to ever grace the Octagon. Daniel Cormier, you’re one of the greatest light heavyweights and the greatest heavyweight champion to ever grace the Octagon. I respect both of you guys tremendously and for the first time in my career, I was in the wrong in this interview. So I hope you guys can take my apology because I respect both you guys like no other in and out of the cage.”
Jones is coming off a split decision victory over Thiago Santos at UFC 239 earlier this month. It’s the second successful light heavyweight title defense in his current reign.
As for Cormier, he’s scheduled to defend his heavyweight gold on Aug. 17. Cormier will have a rematch with Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 241. Back in July 2018, Cormier knocked out Miocic in the first round to capture the heavyweight championship.
