Joanna Jedrzejczyk is a on mission to reclaim her strawweight belt and today the UFC star announced that she is officially in training camp for her upcoming strawweight title fight against current champ Weili Zhang.
The former champion posted a photo on Instagram today which detailed her plans ahead of her fight on March 7 in Las Vegas.
“10 WEEKS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! I’m ready and totally motivated to work hard and regain the throne of the strawweight division during #UFC248,” said Jedrzejczyk. “Today I’ve officially started the camp, hard workouts, diet and everything else that I need to succeed.”
Jedrzejczyk is training in her native country of Poland at the moment, but she noted that in a few days she will be heading to American Top Team in Florida.
“A training plan for the next days has been planned too. On the 3rd of January I’m going to [American Top Team] , where coaches and I will be working hard every day,” Jedrzejczyk said.
Since losing the belt in 2017, Jedrzejczyk has vowed that she will once again rule over the division. She is the most successful strawweight in UFC history by defending her belt five times. No other woman in the division has successfully defended their championship more than once.
UFC 248 will mark Jedrzejczyk’s 10th championship fight, which is a record for women in the UFC. Zhang, who is undefeated in the promotion, will be making her first title defense.
