TUF 19 Results – Edgar retires Penn, Anderson and Gordon named tournament winners
The legendary career of ‘The Prodigy,’ B.J. Penn has come to a close.
“I should have never come back,” Penn said in a post-fight interview after a TKO loss suffered at the hands of former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar.
The fight was the third meeting of the two fighters, although this was the first time the two ever met at 145 pounds. Edgar originally took the lightweight title from Penn and then bested him again in the rematch.
The two recently coached The Ultimate Fighter Season 19 and stood toe-to-toe last night in the center of the Octagon at the TUF 19 Finale where Edgar TKO’d Penn at 4:16 in the third round.
Penn did not look like himself and did not have an answer for what Edgar brought to the table. With the loss the former lightweight and welterweight champion announced his official retirement, going 16-10. His last seven fights results in five losses, one win and one draw.
