Ty Gwerder excited to finally fight at Bellator 264
Ty Gwerder has found himself in a tough spot for nearly a year now.
First he lost his last fight to Dalton Rosa at Bellator 250 in October 2020. Then he was ready to go back out and get himself back in the win column in April, but his opponent pulled out of the fight.
Ever since April, Gwerder has been experiencing the same cycle of getting into camp and having opponents pull out. At one point Gwerder was even presented a contract to fight a top 10 middleweight contender, but the fight never went through.
Finally after months of trying to get a fight, Gwerder has one.
On Friday at Bellator 264, Gwerder will kick off the main card when he mets Khadzhimurat Bestaev.
Prior to the fight, Gwerder spoke to MyMMANews about his upcoming fight, the challenge of having so many fights not happen, training at Xtreme Couture and life outside of the Bellator cage including his relationship with UFC fighter Casey O’Neill.
You can watch his full interview by watching the video above.
