Tyrell Fortune slugs out win vs. Said Sowma at Bellator 251

A Heavyweight Co-Main Event takes place at Bellator 251 when Tyrell Fortune (8-1, 1 NC) takes on promotional new-comer Said Sowma (6-1)

Bellator 251 takes place Thursday, Nov. 5 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The main card airs on CBS Sports Network after prelims streamed on live on Bellator’s youtube channel. They will return with its latest offering on Thursday night when Melvin Manhoef takes on Corey Anderson in the main event of Bellator 251.

Fortune, will look to get back to winnings ways at the November 5 event. He suffered his first defeat as a professional back in February, when the surging Tim Johnson knocked him out in the first round. The wrestling standout returned in September, fighting UFC vet Jack May. However, the bout ended in a No Contest following an accidental low blow. Fortune is still seeking his first win of the year. His last win the Bellator cage was at Bellator 233 on November 8th 2019 almost a year ago, when he TKO’d former UFC fighter Azunna Anyanwu in round 2.

Sowma, hasn’t lost since his professional debut, a TKO defeat to current Bellator heavyweight Steve Mowry. Over the span of his past six fights, Sowma has gone undefeated with four finishes. His last fight took place at Titan FC 64 in September, Sowma defeated Bobby Brents by third-round TKO to earn the vacant title.

 

ROUND 1:

Heavyweight co-main event is almost here. Round 1, they touch gloves. 20 seconds gone and a definite feeling out process between the two. A heavy calf kick from Fortune. Said has now switched stances. Bouncing around trying the circle  around the cage. A jab to the body from Tyrell. A left hook attempted by Fortune, said is equal to and it is blocked. Another jab, this time to the head from Fortune. Both men throw a body kick, they both land. Both men in the centre and trading leg kicks and jabs. A right hand from Fortune, Said sees it cling and avoids the punch. Fortune catches the kick and goes behind Said and takes him down. Said trying to cage walk to get himself back on his feet.Tyrell has Said pushed up against the cage, he gets another takedown. Said manages to quickly scramble back to his feet and that’s the end of the round.

ROUND 2:

Round two begins. A lunging left hook from Fortune and it glanced the head of Said. A right hand down the pipe lands for Fortune. A kick from Said buckles Tyrell.  Pace has slowed down a little, both men feinting and being patient. Fortune catches the kick and pushes him against the cage and gets double under. Whilst in the clinch Said catches Tyrell with a knee to the precious parts. The fight was momentarily stoped from the ref. Tyrell was quick to get the fight started again. He was put jn the same position. One minute left in the round, a inside left kick from Said and it drops Fortune coming in. A huge body kick cracked the rib cage from Said. Said landing some heavy shots towards the end of the round, when he throws he’s having great success.

ROUND 3:

Third round, they touch. A lead calf kick from Fortune. Kicks from Said land on the arms of Tyrell. Lead calf kick lands from Said. A double jab from Tyrell, Said was prepared and counters with a left. A left high kick followed up with a right hand from Said, Fortune ducks under swiftly. Pass the midway point of the third round. This is a close fight. Said Sowma pushing the pressure against the cage. “Ty don’t get out wrestled here” Fortune “IM NOT”. Fortune has Said up against the cage in the clinch, Sowma looks for a trip and Tyrell sees it coming and was equal to it. Ten seconds to go and Tyrell uses his wrestling to land on top and the end of the third and the bell goes.
