Tyron Woodley, Colby Covington, grudge match

Tyron Woodley knows he will be fighting Colby Covington next

The UFC’s welterweight division is an interesting one. Tyron Woodley is the current UFC champion and his next fight should be against former interim welterweight champion, Colby Covington.

However, after Kamaru Usman beat Rafael Dos Anjos last weekend, UFC President Dana White said it could be Usman getting the next title shot.

“I would like to see [Usman] fight Woodley now after seeing that,” White told the media post-fight. “Listen, Colby Covington pulled out of the fight, didn’t defend his belt, this, that, and the whole thing. I’m one of these guys when I just see a fight like this, I want to see Usman fight now. We’ll see what happens, though I’m not saying that’s the case. Sure [it’s possible].

Well, according to Woodley, that is not the case. He knows who he wants to fight next and it isn’t Usman. He would like to fight Covington after months of the two going back-and-forth trash-talking each other.

“I am fighting ‘Queefington’,” Woodley said during an Instagram Live. “When I’m fighting his little-busted butt I don’t know. Hopefully sooner than later cause I know you all sick and tired of this dumb goof-ass videos that nobody’s f–king with. Nobody thinks is funny, besides his dumb ass. I know you all tired of him so sooner than you know, he will be getting that ass whooped and then you won’t have to worry about him anymore.

“Because after I beat his ass, I promise you with everything I believe in, everything I love, everything I ride for, he will be very, very unlikely to want to talk s–t again.”
Ultimately, that is good news for Covington who was promised a title shot. As well, Covington even agrees that the next fight is Woodley vs. Covington. However, when the fight will be is up in the air. UFC 233 has a main event opening, but Woodley said he won’t be able to fight on that card.
It is up in the air, but the good news for UFC fans is that they will soon see Woodley vs Covington.
