UFC fights are back.

On Saturday night, May 9, UFC 249 takes place in Jacksonville, Fla. following a two-month hiatus for the promotion. 

Inside an empty Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the card features two championship bouts. Interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson defends his belt against Justin Gaethje in the main event. 

In the co-main event, bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo is up against Dominick Cruz, who returns to the octagon following a four-year layoff. 

At heavyweight, Greg Hardy takes on Yorgan De Castro to kick off the main card. Hardy is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Alexander Volkov at UFC on ESPN+ 21 in November 2019. Hardy was slated to fight De Castro twice before, both postponed due to the spread of the coronavirus. 

De Castro puts his undefeated record on the line against Hardy. DeCastro returns to the cage after putting away Justin Tafa in the first round of his UFC debut at UFC 243 on Oct. 5, 2019. 

DeCastro earned a UFC contract after a first-round TKO finish against Alton Meeks on the Contender Series in June 2018.

ROUND 1

The two tap gloves with an early exchange after. De Castro lands a punch, Hardy counters with a leg kick. DeCastro swings big right away, while Hardy is trying to establish some distance. De Castro countering nicely as Hardy comes in with straight jabs. De Castro lands a right leg kick, Hardy counters with a right punch. Hardy lands a low kick of his own, while De Castro counters with a jab and overhand right. Both guys in the center, De Castro backs up Hardy and lands a leg kick. De Castro attacking the lead leg of Hardy. Hardy’s left leg is starting to swell up. Both fighters let loose, Hardy gets better of the exchange. Hardy continues to work the jab and De Castro is blocking well. De Castro fighting from the outside to end the round, Hardy walking him down. A very close round.

ROUND 2

De Castro attacks Hardy’s left leg early with a low kick. Hardy lands a leg kick of his own. De Castro starts checking some of Hardy’s leg kicks. Hardy still trying to find a way to get closer without getting countered, throws a front kick on De Castro’s knee and lands. Hardy in the center of the octagon, lands an outside leg kick. Hardy is the more active fighter, pushing the pace. De Castro still on the outside, Hardy in the center of the cage. Hardy lands another outside leg kick and a jab to follow. De Castro did not throw much in the second round.

ROUND 3

Hardy starts the final round by throwing a right hand. De Castro starts utilizing his leg kicks, lands back-to-back. Hardy lands a leg kick of his own in response. He lands an outside leg kick as De Castro closes the distance. Hardy lands a jab, trying to push De Castro back. Hardy lands an inside leg kick, while De Castro counters with an outside leg kick. Hardy lands and inside leg kick. De Castro throws a leg kick, slips and falls down. De Castro is on his own back, Hardy staying engaged on his feet. Referee Herb Dean warns Hardy he will stand him up. Hardy tells Dean to stand him up. Both fighters back on their feet. Hardy lands the lead jab, remains in the center of the octagon. Hardy misses with inside leg kick. Hardy is pushing the action, De Castro fighting on the outer part of the cage.
